Morena Rial, the daughter of renowned journalist Jorge Rial, was arrested in downtown Buenos Aires after being linked to a robbery in Villa Adelina, San Isidro, that took place on January 18. The capture operation was carried out early in the morning with the participation of the Superintendency of Security Region AMBA North I and several delegations from the San Isidro Police.
Morena was detained after security camera footage showed her attempting to enter a house in what is known as a 'sneak-in' robbery, accompanied by several accomplices. Following her arrest, she was transferred to Comuna 1B of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires to be made available to the City’s Prosecutor's Court, under the supervision of prosecutor Patricio Ferrari of the UFI Martínez.
According to police reports, Morena had already been arrested on January 23 in Martínez, Buenos Aires province, in connection with another robbery in which belongings were taken from a house by forcing a window to gain entry. On this occasion, security cameras played a key role in identifying those involved in the crime.
Morena's father, Jorge Rial, one of the most recognized journalists in Argentina, has not made any public statements regarding his daughter's arrest. The young woman remains in custody while the investigation is ongoing and the next steps in this case are determined.
